Flat fleshing beams are used by fur trappers countrywide and are effective for use on any furbearer that will fit the beam. One very effective method of mounting the flat beam is to screw the base of the beam to a railroad tie or piece of timber that has a "T" crosspiece screwed to the head of the tie/timber to prevent tipping, mount the fleshing beam on a 45 degree angle, with the middle of the beam resting and screwed to a post that is also attached to the railroad tie or timber. Used in such manner I have witnessed trappers fleshing coyote pelts in as little as 3 minutes when pushing with a 2 handled fleshing knife.
Another method is to mount the beam to the wall, either flat or ideally on a slight angle. Use a small piece of angle iron or angle iron bracket screwed to the wall and have beam resting on a "post".
