Donahue Trap and Bait Holder - A simple and unique device/set for trapping Pine Marten and Fisher, enabling the user to set a fisher or marten trap in under a minute using the included quick-attach system and a branch to secure the hood. This trap and bait holder protects bait from birds and the traps from rain/snow.
One of the most noteworthy benefits of this unit is it's ability to make neck catches of the target animal, vs body or "suitcase" catches on marten, thus delivering the desired strike location on the marten's neck to achieve the desired humane kill.
The trapper nails the wooden trap holder to the tree, stabs a piece of bait on to the top of the holder, then sets trap pressing the jaws onto the wooden cross member to hold in place, then slides the cap onto the top. It is always wise to wire the trap to a limb so that your catch swings away from the tree to keep voles and other creatures from pilfering your valuable pelt.
